Hyderabad

Cast off to Hyderabad

Hyderabad can be said to be where Hindu and Muslim India meet. It is sometimes referred to as the "City of Nizams", in memory of three hundred years of Muslim rule (whose love of gemstones lent the city another nickname, the "City of Pearls"). Their legacy includes the old Charminar Mosque, the pride of the city, and the Falaknuma Palace, now a Taj hotel, as well as a cuisine which includes the famous rice and meat dish, biriyani. Today Muslims make up 40% of the city's population and Hyderabad represents a melting-pot of Hindu and Muslim cultures.

Type Cast

Hyderabad is the sixth largest city in India with a rapidly-growing population of nearly 6.4 million. It is a city of contrast: the core of the old trading centre still exists in the atmospheric maze of bazaars of the old city, but nowadays Hyderabad jostles with Bangalore for the title of the south's hi-tech capital and is the home of the world-class Indian School of Business (ISB). It's also boasts India's second biggest film industry, known locally as 'Tollywood'. From majestic monuments to mega malls, tranquil lakeside strolls to trendy bars and restaurants, Hyderabad offers something for everyone.

Visitors to Hyderabad describe being welcomed with friendliness and interest by the locals and the people are outgoing and hospitable. They are always looking for the smallest chance to get together and celebrate!

Fore Cast

Hyderabad has a tropical climate and summer is particularly hot with temperatures in the high 30s° C (low 100s° F). The very welcome monsoon reaches Hyderabad from July to October, and is followed by pleasant winter temperatures of 15-20° C (59-68° F). These are perfect times for exploring the ancient monuments and hill stations in the countryside surrounding the city.

Up Cast

Expatriates have been coming to Hyderabad for years. The city is booming: it is home to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as call centres, but is best known for its computer and information technology industry which has given rise to yet another nickname, "Cyberabad". Several Fortune 500 companies are based here.

Broad Cast

There are several schools to choose between. Hyderabad has an excellent international school called the International School of Hyderabad (ISH) providing education from pre-school through to Grade 12 and which follows the IGCSE curriculum and IB Programme. There are other international schools of repute such as Oakridge International School, Indus International School and DRS International School. We'll help you decide which is best for your family.

As for healthcare, Hyderabad has a number of options, including Apollo, CARE Hospital Group, Yashoda Hospitals, Fortis Hospitals, and Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, plus other individual organisations. Namaskara!
